Digital X-Rays

We are committed to staying up to date with the latest dental technology and equipment to continually provide you and your family with the best possible dental care. One of the state-of-the-art tools we use at our office is digital radiography or digital X-rays. Digital radiography uses a digital sensor rather than X-ray film to capture in-depth images of your teeth, jawbone and surrounding structures. With digital X-rays, our dentist can identify and diagnose several types of dental problems, such as:

  • Developmental abnormalities
  • Bone loss
  • Tooth decay, including decay between teeth
  • Infection in the tooth nerves
  • Improper tooth root positions
  • Tumors (cancerous and non-cancerous)
  • Cracks in existing fillings
  • Abscesses and cysts

Dr. Alex Fleming favors digital radiography in Durham, North Carolina, because it holds several advantages over traditional film radiography. The process for taking digital X-rays is faster and more comfortable for our patients. Digital radiography also utilizes significantly less radiation. The images provided by digital X-rays are of very high quality, allowing us to expand them and easily manipulate the light-dark contrast to better evaluate your oral health. If you would like to learn more about the benefits of digital radiography, we invite you to call 919-682-5327 or visit us today.
