Intraoral Cameras

When you visit our dentist and dental team, we strive to provide you with the highest possible level of dental care. In addition to providing high-quality dentistry, we work hard to help you better understand your dental health. One of the tools we use to accomplish this goal is known as the intraoral camera. An intraoral camera is a small, pen-shaped camera that can be easily used to capture close-up images of the inside of your mouth. We may use the intraoral camera in Durham, North Carolina, to take photos of certain areas and angles within your smile that are harder to examine with the unaided eye. Using the intraoral camera, we can better examine and detect dental problems like cracked or chipped teeth, tooth decay, periodontal disease (gum disease) and more.

Once we have taken an image with the intraoral camera, Dr. Alex Fleming can review the photo almost immediately on a monitor right in our treatment room. This also allows you, our patient, to gain a better understanding of your oral health and the conditions we work to treat and repair. If needed, the images taken with an intraoral camera can also be sent to dental insurance companies, dental specialists or other medical professionals. For more information about the advantages of using an intraoral camera, we welcome you to contact us today at 919-682-5327.
